Rick Roberts is a partner with the firm of Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC, based in Cheshire, Connecticut.
His practice is focused in the areas of insurance defense, professional liability, product liability,
employment litigation and commercial litigation.
Mr. Roberts is active in numerous professional organizations, including the New Haven County Bar Association,
where he has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2001; the Connecticut Bar Association; the American
Bar Association; the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association; the Defense Research Institute and the Connecticut
Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Roberts served as Education Chair of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association
from 2000-2001; Executive Board Member of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section from 1988-1996;
District Representative to the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division from 1991-1993 and as President of
the New Haven County Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee from 1989-1990. He currently chairs the New Haven
County Bar Association's Public Service and Membership Committees. Mr. Roberts has been admitted 2006 to the United
States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Roberts presides over private arbitrations and mediations and is a court-appointed arbitrator for the judicial districts
of New Haven, Waterbury and New Britain. He also serves on Litigation Alternatives and Dispute Resolution, Inc.'s panels
relating to employment and commercial litigation.
Admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, Mr. Roberts received his J.D. in 1983 from the State University of New York
at Buffalo, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, and his B.A. in 1979 from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Mr. Roberts was a Lecturer in Legal Studies at Quinnipiac College, and has spoken frequently on topics relating to his practice.
Some of his presentations have included "Advanced Personal Injury," "Personal Injury Settlements," "Premises Liability: The Defense Perspective,"
and "Preparing and Trying the Automobile Accident Case."
When he is not practicing law, Mr. Roberts serves his community as an advocate for the arts. He is currently the president of the board of
directors of Film Fest New Haven, a not-for-profit organization that hosts two independent film festivals each year. Mr. Roberts was also awarded
Outstanding Big Brother of the Year by the South Central Connecticut Big Brothers/Big Sisters for enacting a program designed to encourage attorney volunteers.
